Jessismith's News

I jut wanted to apologize ti all of my friends and viewers here on Newgrounds. To be honest, I have been unable to make any new projects because I suffered a series of 3 massive strokes last year, due to my rare neurovascular brain disease. It took almost everything from me, including any artistic skills and know-how that I had, and even my singing voice. It took my dominant hand that I used for drawing and writing. It completely took away my livelihood. For months, I was just laying in a hospital bed, and doing some physical therapy sessions. I am legally blind, and blessed to even be able to walk and talk right now. I type one-handed, but it is so slow to do. I used to be a typing wizard, but the strokes took that skill away from me as well. Sorry for all the doom and gloom, but I am only kept going by the hope that I will fully recover someday.

I'm not sure how many of you Newgrounds people play MMORPG type games on a regular basis, but I have been slowly working on an MMORPG project of my own. I call it "Project Tokala."

I originally started up Project Tokala with a few of my friends on Facebook. We had fun brainstorming different races and concepts. Shortly after creating the Facebook group, I launched an official project website, to start things off in a more professional looking way. Also, with a website, it really comes in handy, as you have a way to neatly organize, and store all of your quests, characters, races, regions and everything else.

However, lately, I have been the only one updating the project on the site My friends had all been very enthusiastic in the beginning, helping me formulate ideas, and develop many of the new races for it, but now, most folks have pretty much abandoned it, aside from responding to my posts on Facebook. It had been like pulling teeth trying to get some of my friends to even join the website, and I've still not managed to be successful....which is the painful part of it all. I worked so hard on the actual website, just to be able to post up some new content, and for other to post up some new content, or just to get opinions from others, but with no input to go on, it is all on my shoulders.

A little while back, a guy joined up on my forums, and said that he was bringing his team, as well as others over to the project, including some programmers....but it never happened. That is why I am taking it upon myself to attempt to recruit from anywhere that I can possibly recruit from. As I had never intended for this project to solely be mine, I am more than open to everyone's ideas and suggestions.
Right now, I am looking to recruit writers, artists, composers, voice actors, storytellers of all sorts, and later down the road, I'll launch a Kickstarter, and then the project will truly get a chance to shine. But that would probably after the first part of the game would be built, and after assembling an amazing trailer for it. But please, all I ask is for more real life people to join up on the forums and take a look. I'll have to verify your account so that I know you are human and whatnot. Also, any sort of new content, stories, characters or anything that you could possibly add to the site would be beyond appreciation. You guys have no idea what it would mean to me. Even if you can't contribute with content, your voice and suggestions would give me something to go on, so please, join up with us now, at http://projecttokala.com
I will love you guys forever even if you just joined the forum, I promise! *desperate sigh*
I know....I'll probably get nowhere with this journal post....but hey, it is at least worth a try, right? ^__^

Cheers, all!

Starting an MMORPG Project

A new friend of mine on Newgrounds just made an amazing song that features some of my vocal in it.
It is an amazing classical piece, that simply has to be listened to!!

I'm excited to hear about a piece that I did vocals for a while back has finally been released here on NG!!!

I think that everyone involved with the project has done such a wonderful job. Particularly Shanath, who composed this amazing cover. If you haven't listened to it yet, you must!!

PS: For anyone thinking my voice was lacking in the piece, please listen to a practice version of the song that I mixed a long time ago with the original midi, using the exact same vocal track: CLICK HERE I'm guessing it was just the mixing burying my voice in the background. But trust me, I belted the vocal out...even if it doesn't show in the main version. :)

Yeah, I know....I always say that, but I've been through so much lately, I don't know if I can make the time to hang around here. I love you all though, and I wish you all the best in your lives.

I just found the most interesting document. A few years back, I decided to talk to my computer using its built in speech recognition software, and this is what it wrote back to me. I posted it for laughs. xD

Title: You Are Retard Used to be Computer

Hello. I don't know why it does not record my beliefs in open office. This is such a bummer. I really don't know what to say next. There is not much to say, because I have to talk very slow. This is very the lame. This is going to take a lot of time to get used to. I really wish this were two more accurate, but I guess it will have to do for now. You are you retard I am a retard and some in im so mean your name two why can't you can to try to use stupid computer. If you wonder if the guy said my?

I am writing a letter to you and I know that it will put another version of the word two in the place all from that of the two that I want to tell you ha ha ha. With this computer use so in name. And I don't even think it will get that word either the cause you to use the name will. I really wonder what strange generation it will replace my words when a. I guess we will have to find out.

OMG! I won a contest!! A lot of people entered, and I won!!! :D The prize wasn't that much, I know...just a silly t-shirt and some candy, lol, but I won!!!!! I saw so many entries....maybe almost a thousand (well, probably not that many). And mine was definitely nothing special....but I won anyway!! Hehe, sorry for being goofy, but I had to get my excitement out, as I hardly ever receive any gifts, and never ever win any contests....ever!! I am a winner!!!!
As for the contest, well, it's better I didn't say what it was. Kind of silly and childish....but I still won, therefore I am special. ;)

Anyway, before I go to bed, I want to open a discussion here. What was the best thing you have ever won in a contest? Or if you were like me and had never won one, what was the best gift you've ever gotten?

I'd love to hear your stories. :)

I Won a Random Contest!! I Feel Special!

Anyway, so I was just playing the very first Elder Scrolls game, Arena, for both nostalgia, and for storyline purposes. I'm still in Skyrim. That's where I'm starting from. I'm playing as a female nord, and hopefully I'll get through all of the regions of Tamriel in a month, lol. But yeah, I decided to remaster and change around the Skyrim theme just a bit, because it is my favorite music sequence in the game so far. I took the original midi and added a few things...plus, modified the instrument sounds/atmosphere. Click here to listen (Skyrim Theme)
EDIT!!! Here is another one too!!!! (Another Theme....forget which though)
And another!! (Main Theme)

If you all are really die-hard Elder Scrolls fans, I would highly recommend starting from the beginning and working your way up. :) I know the graphics suck, but the storyline was so extremely well thought out, and it will provide so many days of boredom relief. You'll also see many artifacts and characters that you'll hear about in the other games, so it's really interesting. :)
Tell me if I have what it takes to remaster the whole thing. :D

Thinking about remastering original Elder Scrolls Songs

I really hope that 2011 has been a good year for all of you. Hopefully all of the good stuff that happened in this year will only be multiplied next year. Wishing you all a happy 2012...and hopefully the world won't end, hehe.
Anyway, as it nears the end of my vacation, I feel like I'm running out of time to complete stuff. I've been working on a choral piece for a few months now, which hopefully will be submitted on New Year's Day. I just want to set good tidings for the new year, which I feel will be the start of good things. I dunno why, but I really have good feelings about this coming year.
Anyhow, prepare yourself for great things to happen. I love all you great folks.
Happy New year! :D
