I feel it!

Such an exciting, provocative piece!! I can feel a sense of danger or imminent doom, but the desire to stay alive overcomes it all. Absolutely breathtaking composition! I'm glad that I clicked on it. One of this competitions best for sure! Good luck dude!

Oooh.

I feel like I'm being closed in a dark abandoned tomb, with only darkness, and terror lurking in the places where I can't see. This is a very bone chilling piece. Keep up the good work!

Hey, thanks for the review!

Yeah, you can tell this wasnt intended to bring about images of sunshine and rainbows lol.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I'll be sure to try and come up with something even better next time!

Thanks for the support!

Spectacular!

This song has a wonderful, and strong ethnic feel to it. Kind of pulls you into a desert type setting. I can definitely relate this piece to many movie and video games. :) That's a good example of musical imagery, which you have wonderfully demonstrated. I can just picture a long journey across a vast desert with shifting sands.

The sounds you used worked together well. Again, I bring up the ethnic aspect of it, because that is my favorite quality of it. Those shakers and miscellaneous percussion totally make all of the difference.

Now, I've never been a fan of slow ambient type stuff, so I'll admit that the beginning didn't really pull me in like some songs do, but I think that the climax of the song really made it all worthwhile.

Well, all in all, this piece was very well made. Can't really find anything wrong with it, since music is not my real expertise. I think it's a really nice quality song with a lot of potential. :) So much accomplished in a song, even though, as you say, classical isn't one of your main genres, and that you're deaf in one ear. You still managed to maintain a flawless stereo sound anyway.

Also the whole thing seemed to come together nicely. It was a good idea to start off slow and hide the real prize for last..although, I would have done the opposite, just to change things around. ;)

Anyway, I should probably cut this short now. Great song! And the best luck in this competition! :D Oh yeah, and keep up the good work too.

Cheers,

Wow, thanks for the very detailed review! Also sorry for the late response. I seem to have had the swine flu, and while I'm still not feeling that good, I've got better.

Thanks! Like I already said to megakill, a desert was definitely what I was going for. I've made an Egyptian-like song before called 'The Ancient Curse', and while I didn't work on it nearly as much as I worked on this, I got some inspiration from it. I've got some experience with ethnic percussion too so I put that to good use, as I did with my new VST Ethnoworld 3 which is awesome.

"The sounds you used worked together well. Again, I bring up the ethnic aspect of it, because that is my favorite quality of it. Those shakers and miscellaneous percussion totally make all of the difference."

Great :D. Although for some reason my cousin didn't like the sound of the shakers much.

Yeah admittedly the intro was the thing I worked least on when making the song. Usually I make songs with a specific intro in mind, then I evolve the melody from the intro, or in some cases the melody in the intro is the main melody. For this song I had the melody figured out first and I put it into the first pattern of the song, and then I made the intro. I was so excited to get to the main melody at 0:34 that I half-arsed the intro :3.

"Well, all in all, this piece was very well made."

Thanks!

Ah, is it art? Because your art is very good.

Glad to hear that (the fact that you said I maintained a good stereo sound I mean, not the stereo sound itself because I can't hear that :P). I did absolutely no panning of my own at all, so that good stereo sound is pure luck I guess.

"Also the whole thing seemed to come together nicely. It was a good idea to start off slow and hide the real prize for last..although, I would have done the opposite, just to change things around. ;)"

Ah, in my case I've got the mentality that all climaxes are at the end, although sometimes I don't end my songs with climaxes, but rather play the climax , then the song goes silent and I end the song softly.

Thanks again for the really helpful review!

Just, wow!

I can't believe my ears, this is so amazing! Now I need to really brainstorm in order to beat this piece. So original, and just downright epic! Just like all the rest of your amazing classical pieces. I'm definitely in awe now...not that I wasn't before. I mean, what more can I expect from the greatest composer out there? :) Keep it up, and I wish you luck in the competition. This won't be the last of me, hehe. ;)

I am greatly honored that you feel I'm the "greatest composer out there!" Although you have already left me speechless by that statement, what I can say is that, "with a great muse comes great inspiration to create great art!" Without you, I couldn't have arrived at where I am today. :) So, thank YOU!

I always have to make a statement like that too...

As I also never use any loops in my work. :) But some people can be fooled by how beautifully realistic EWQL's sounds are. I'm loving the graceful piano melody in this. Altogether, quite a lovely piece. :)

Oh please keep it up!

I'll keep voting you a 5 just to make sure you complete it. :) This song is just tear-jerkingly beautiful. The background orchestration is definitely well in sync to the free flow piano melody. Both melodies really complete one another, and the tune makes me think of such happy times. Warm and calm, and sweet. I love in the gentle piano arps when the soft horns come in. Inspires my imagination quite a bit. Keep it up. :)

Wow!

If they ever make another Castle Crashers game, I think you should submit this to it, because yeah, it definitely has that feel to it, like an epic quest sort of feel. You sure know your way around EWQL's resources. You should definitely make more like this. Keep it up!

Absolutely tear-jerking and beatiful.

I can feel the power of this orb throughout the gentle melody. It just sweeps through and takes your breath away. From the powerful beginning, to the mystical, magical middle part, and then back to the glorious majestic ending. Words cannot describe the beauty both from the instruments and powerful melody of this piece. I am in tears now.

XayberOptix responds:

Thanks! That's really inspiring! I'm glad that my music can be enjoyed. :)

Suspenseful!

You did such an amazing job scoring this trailer. I can say that it definitely took in my interest when watching it. It did the job so well. :)

I like this....in the middle....

...of straight, hardcore trance, and more mellow types. It's a really nice blend. Definitely worth listening to it over and over. :)

Living to love and loving to live.
